Loud, Proud, Yorkshire

As The Grand Departed from St. Michael’s church in Mytholmroyd on 5th April 2014 and headed up the hill. Hebden Bridge Arts Festival’s poet Winston Plowes set to work arranging words he had gathered from the throng. Lovers of pianos and cycling mixed with locals and all provided Winston with three words each that to them meant ‘Piano’. These words have been made into a voice collage accompanied by music written especially for the event by David Nelson, director of Hebden’s Piano Festival.

Winston would like to thank the following for their words on the day – Jan Scott Nelson, Sergeant Bowden (West Yorkshire Police) who provided the title, Rob Raikes, Simon, Suzie, Peadar Long, Phil Taylor, Charlotte Alderson (Gala Queen), Natalie Speake, Sue and Julie (Boggart stall), Tamsin Curror, Charlotte Zunder, Sue Day, Terry, John Benson, Bob Gaunt, Annie Harrison, Ralph Dartford, Kevin Holt. And also, Eliot Wood, Anne Knight, Maisy Howell, James W. Moore, Mick Shields, Tony Halsall, Jan Grainger and David Nelson without whom the making of this film would not have been possible.
